Important events or celebrations of all sorts are important to document. They can be documenterd with photographs or video or both. The choice is yours.
Event Photography
Event can be challenging to photograph. The locations can be dimly lit or not the most flattering lightning. It is not always possible to add flash or other kinds of light sources. The moments are fleeting and as a photographer I need to be on my toes not to miss an important moment and as the same time not bring to much attention to myself. The delivery also needs to fast a lot of the time.
Good event photography is so much more than just documenting the moment, it is about seeing and catching the small moments while photographing the story. There needs to be visual variety so that you can experience the key moments of the whole event visually as well as finer details and candid interactions.
Event video
The challenges are the same with an event video as with photography. The difference is the challenge and possibilities that video brings. You can enhance the visual storytelling with music and sound. Deepen it with interviews and show interactions in a different way. Video plays to our emotions in a different way and the editing can make a big impact on how we experience the moment. The story elements are also more in the forefront that in any other medium. With video we can compress time and tell the story of the event in a few minutes.
